Boats Permitted – 2026 Onwards
⚠️ Hard Limits (No Exceptions)
From 2026 onwards, participant vessels must be:

Maximum 5m hull length

Maximum 60hp engine
Older photos & videos may show larger boats from previous years.
Those boats are no longer permitted.
Event support vessels may exceed these limits.
Participant vessels may not.
Permitted Vessel Types

Aluminium dinghies
-
Polycraft runabouts
-
Tiller steer, side console, or centre console tinnies
- Mono hull only (no cats or twin hulls)
If it’s fast, luxury-oriented, heavy, or not a tinny — it’s not for this rally.
Fibreglass vessels are permitted in 2026, but will not permitted from 2027
Not permitted:

Pontoon boats
-
RIBs or inflatables

Speed boats
-
Wake boats
-
Jet skis / jet boats

Inboard-powered vessels

Anything over 5m
-
Anything over 60hp
Recommended Setup
Most participants use:

20–25hp (solo)
-
25–40hp (two people)
You must be able to achieve at least 30km/h fully loaded, ideally 38km/hr.
Test your boat properly before the rally.
Compliance & Responsibility
All vessels must:

Be legally registered (where required)
-
Be insured in accordance with state requirements

Be rated for the motor fitted

Be rated for the load carried
Participant vessels are subject to mandatory equipment and compliance verification prior to departure.
Tinny Rally is a self-navigated recreational boating event.
Participants remain responsible for navigation, compliance, and seaworthiness at all times.
